Conversations With God

Hang out with me for a little bit and let me share something with you. In the Christian faith you'll often hear people talk about their prayer closet. Usually a small private place where you can study the word, pray, and spend time in fellowship with God. Prayer closets are great, and if you have a space, you should definitely make one for yourself. But there's also something to be said for looking up into the sky, beyond the clouds, knowing that out in the infinity God is there.

Since I was a very little girl I have loved being out under the open sky, any where in the great outdoors (as long as it's a place where I feel safe.) I loved it because this is where I felt most comfortable talking to God. We would talk about EVERYTHING; after all, I was taught in Sunday school that God was my friend and that I could talk to Him whenever I wanted. First, I would talk to Him when I was upset. I remember a time when I was upset with my Mom and Dad because I couldn't get a toy or something and I decided to run away from home. I went out into the yard and got a stick, then I took a scarf and packed peanut butter and crackers in it. Tied the scarf around the stick and told my Mom I was running away. I was determined! But a beautiful thing happened as I walked (mostly around the block) God spoke to my spirit, calmed me down and told me to go home. I have no idea how many times I wend round the block, but eventually I went home and told my Mom that I was sorry. All she did was hug me.

In my young adulthood I kind of strayed away from not only God, I stopped spending time with Him. the funny thing was I could feel in my spirit when He was trying to talk to me, but I was too busy doing anything and everything that I thought I was grown enough to do. (If you didn't got through this count yourself among the lucky and the few.) Oh yes, when there was a serious problem I knew how to take it to the Lord in prayer, but I had forgotten what it was like to just have a conversation with God.

Passing though youth into middle age, I have had to re-learn how precious spending time with God actually is.  I go to church to worship regularly, and I love every minute of it! But it's not the same. I have a prayer closet, it's a space that's connected to my bedroom that I've claimed as my office space, I love being in there as cluttered as it may be; but still it isn't the same. There's only one place that is as limitless as my imagination, outdoors.

Psalm 104: 1-3
1 Praise the Lord, my soul.
Lord my God, you are very great;
    you are clothed with splendor and majesty.
2 The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment;
    he stretches out the heavens like a tent
3     and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters.
He makes the clouds his chariot
    and rides on the wings of the wind.

I can remember almost all of the conversations with God that I've ever in the solitude of the openness. The night sky filled with the starts that He created...the wind blowing across my skin. This is as close to the throne room as I think I have ever been. I have rejoiced here and I have cried here. I have given thanks here, and I have grieved here. There is no judgement here, here is where I have found peace. This is the place where I can ask my Heavenly Father anything. Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall, there isn't a night that goes by that I don't spend time outside before I head of to bed.  I praise God for the house that I have right now. It has a really nice wrap around porch, that I love for this very reason.

I've said all of this to say, you can spend time with God at anytime, and any where that you choose because He is ALWAYS with you! Wherever you are He IS! All He wants is your time. He wants to have conversations with you. He wants you to spend time with Him. So find your special place and have conversations with God, I guarantee if you do, it will change your life forever.

Much Love,

Pandora
